Collection: ACTINOLITE

Actinolite is a green, fibrous amphibole silicate mineral that typically forms radiating needle-like crystals or slender blades. The name comes from the Greek word aktis, meaning "beam" or "ray," because of the mineral's radiating crystal habit. Richard Kirwan first recorded the mineral in 1794. It is common worldwide in metamorphic rocks like schists and greenschists. A compact, fine-grained variety of the tremolite-actinolite series is known as nephrite jade. When found included inside clear quartz, it is sometimes called "Witches Fingers" or Magdalena stone.
