PERSIAN TURQUOISE

Historically, Persian Turquoise came to describe the fine robin's egg blue or celestial blue colour with earth toned matrix. Persia is known to have some of the world's oldest natural turquoise mines in the world.  One of the most recognisable and consistently fashionable gemstones, Turquoise has been around since about 6,000 BC. 
Turquoise played a crucial role in the protection of the citizens of Persia as they travelled the great Silk Road to sell it far and wide over 2,000 years ago. It is believed that Turquoise sourced from Persian mines is of the finest and purest quality.  
Persia is known to have some of the world’s oldest natural turquoise mines in the world. It is said that the first type of Turquoise was introduced into western culture through the Silk Road, where Persian Turquoise became available to Europe, western Asia, and America coming from cities like Tous, Nishapur, or Neyshabur, Pamhgan, and Baghdad among others.  
Turquoise has been worn, used, and appreciated by different civilizations for thousands of years. Originally called Piruzeh in Persian, the gem has spiritual value in Persian culture is such that its name carries the meanings of victory, triumph, and prosperity. Persian Turquoise is expensive, the classic “robin's egg blue” colour, because it has trace vanadium and no iron. 
Turquoise of stunning beauty has been mined in Iran (formerly known as Persia) for over 5000 years. Although Iranian production accounts for just a small proportion of the world's total output, its Turquoise still sets the standard for quality.
